An Easy Day Trip to Pompeii from Sorrento, Italy
Sunday, November 09, 2014
1-3. Pompeii forum 4. Forum with Mount Vesuvius in the Background 5. Temple of Apollo 6. Pottery and plaster cast of a victim 7. Private house 8. Baths in the house.
As a lover of Roman history and fiction, I was looking forward to visiting Pompeii, an ancient Roman town destroyed and buried by an active volcano, Mt. Vesuvius' eruption. Although most of the site requires a stretch of imagination, there remain some beautifully preserved areas like this house shown above. Besides, if you've seen or read any Roman fiction you shouldn't have any problem imagining what every nook and cranny looked and felt like.

ReplyDeleteI really loved Pompeii when I visited it, I liked the contrast of abandoned old buildings and oleanders and other plants struggling to live there.
