Disneysea Daytrip from Tokyo

You can find Disneyland all over the world, but Tokyo's Disneysea is one of a kind and hence this featured very high up on our Tokyo itinerary.

Disneysea has several themed areas, each of which is inspired by classics like Indiana Jones, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Aladdin, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Toy Story Mania and the Little Mermaid. The theme choices make the rides and other attractions perfect for adults because it's not just princess or Mickey Mouse.

But don't get me wrong, adult doesn't mean scary rides as there aren't actually many scary roller coasters in this place.  If you want to take a ride on one, Lost River Delta and Mysterious Island areas are the places for you. The roller coasters are a mix of loops and dips with special effects and provide the perfect amount of excitement for people like me who refuse to go on very scary rides. Raging Spirits was the most intense one, fast and jolty and really fun! For extreme thrill seekers though, don't you worry, there is the famous Tower of Terror which I skipped obviously but as you see, there is something for everyone.

My absolute favourite area was the Arabian Coast. While Aladdin is certainly one of my favourite Disney movies, the best part of this area is how real it feels. You really do feel like you're in - ARRRRRABIAN NIIIIIGHHHTS. Instead of going on rides, I simply soaked in the unique atmosphere here. In saying that, the American Waterfront and the Mediterranean Coast that mimics an Italian port city are also stunning to look at.

The themed restaurant areas are also fantastic such as the upscale Teddy Roosevelt Lounge. As a vegetarian our eating options were limited so we didn't make use of any of these but a nice dinner would definitely be a cherry on top for a day out at Disneysea if that's what you're after.

But for vegetarians, one of the perfect snacks and souvenir to collect is try and get different flavours of popcorn from different areas spread across the entire park. These are one of the most popular snacks there and you get cute collectable buckets as well. Some of the ones I tried and loved were caramel, curry, milk chocolate and herb tomato. They were delicious to munch on as we explored through the park and kept me from starving as a vegetarian.

Honestly, Disneysea is a great day out even if you're not a theme park enthusiast and I'd highly recommend it to all Japanese travellers!
