Stamp It.

The dress you see above is a purchase I made last year but have only gotten around to posting it now. Despite my love for this piece due to its similarities to the Mary Katrantzou postage stamp dress from her Spring/Summer 2013 collection here, I hadn’t found the chance to post this look earlier. I know designer imitations always beg the question of ethicality leaving a tiny fringe of doubt, as I struggle between my ardent support for one of my favourite designers and the temptation of an almost identical piece at a fraction of the price.  Now many of us remain exclusive to the flairs of haute couture and in spite of lusting after the beauty of her work, can never find it nestled amongst our humble closet. However, those who can manage this luxury will certainly refrain from indulging in an imitation, largely leaving her target market unaffected, as they do not wish to sacrifice the status that comes attached with the designer price tag (one they can certainly afford). So, even though my inner moral police taunts me, I soothe myself with the thought that imitation may be the best form of flattery.
