We said hello to 2015 with a roadtrip around New Zealand, beginning two exciting weeks by driving from Christchurch to Twizel in the Canterbury region. If there is any way possible to describe the amazing scenery that greeted us, I would begin by saying in all my years of mindlessly staring at Windows's screensavers, I was finally driving through one. Having just left Christchurch, driving along Lake Tekapo was a humble reminder of all the beauty that we have around us. The lake itself, an extraordinary body of turquoise blue water shimmered from behind rolling hills, dense rows of trees and was surrounded by specks of lupins. On our way, we ended up on a path along the Tekapo-Pukaki canal which although a dead end, was a detour we were happiest to have landed up on.

Next stop came in the form of the Lake Pukaki (shoot coming up!!). We reached here upon sunset and were faced with violent winds and surreal colours. The lake was shadowed by wispy clouds above and glistening mountain peaks below, the effect is beyond words. The other shots you see above were taken on an impulse (#onthego) as we stopped over to see anything that caught attention; cemeteries high up on mountains with an eerily foggy backdrop, coffee stopovers that turned into long walks and of course to feed our narcissism a model shot here and there :P.

After such a long day out and about, we were only too happy to be able to snuggle up on our adorable cottage in the heart of the 'Stargazing district' i.e. Twizel, although the murky clouds above meant no starry nights for us, the cottage with its country feel and rustic decor was a perfect compliment to the beautiful landscape outside.
